Becoming a Christian
Being a Christian means different things to different people. Some say,
- I live in a Christian country.
- I was brought up in a Christian home.
- I always thought I was a Christian.
- I don’t understand what you mean by being a Christian.
- Why does someone need to be a Christian?
- Is it not true that as long as I follow the Ten Commandments, live a good moral life, and do the best I can, I’ll go to Heaven?
- I know I'm going to Heaven because I’m a good person.
Many people have been very genuine in making these statements and asking these questions. Have you found it difficult to understand what is involved and why we need to become a Christian. If you want to know how things were when God created us and how all that changed, then I encourage you to take time to read the remaining sections on this subject.
If you are puzzled what all this has got to do with you today you may find the answer here. Perhaps you cannot fully grasp the result of admitting that you are not perfect, but still you are not the most wicked person in the world. If you read further you may be able to see the problem of sin in the world today, the solution to it and how you can become a Christian.
